As always, these guys played an killer show back in November that I made it out to.
If you ever get a chance to check them out take it because they put on one of the best country shows of any band I’ve seen since leaving the South. Washboards and banjos may not be your thing, but with the level of musicianship this band brings to the table you might want to reconsider…

Note for future photographers: You must build up your knowledge base, by debasing yourself just a little and assisting others, until you learn at least enough technical skill to be able to use the equipment for experimentation on your own. After that, the lifelong journey can begin!

Despite my painful urge to go devour some eggs bene while sipping a nice cold bloody Mary… I’m still sitting on my couch waiting for a certain someone to finish doing her hair, or whatever. While every other day of the week brings the opposite feelings to mind, Saturdays make me feel as though I should be lounging harder, or relaxing more thoroughly than I actually am. Hence the urgency in my desire to root down in Le Cercle Rouge bistro in TriBeCa before one more minute of “off” time passes me by. I have to get it in early today though, as I will be snapping a look-book for a designer named Gemma Kahng later today. It should be a trip, because all the people I’m working with today are really eccentric and hilarious. There will be a proceeding update with some sample from the shoot, till then, have a great Saturday!

The shoot was a whirlwind, I think I shot about a dozen guys in four hours after having two days notice to prepare! Nonetheless, the models were a lot of fun and I think we’ll be seeing much more from her in the future.

Some of you may have seen Locksley on MTV as the featured artist of the week this past week, so I decided to bring out some old shots I did for them when they were just starting out in New York a few years ago. They were my neighbors in Bushwick and a stellar group of guys. It’s great to see them doing so well. Perhaps I’ll make it out to a show one of these days and have some fresh live stuff to post.

They say one should be careful what they wish for; “they” are on to something. In coming back to New York a few months ago I was really running the risk of not finding any work and thus not having the means to stay here for very long. I spent the first month or so not finding any paying clients, so when the opportunity to work full-time for a new studio in TriBeCa presented itself, I jumped in headfirst. While I have been working much harder than I thought myself capable, I have also been able to accomplish some things that are tremendously boosting my career right now. With the completion of the studio, I now have a lovely space at my disposal to do the type of work I really enjoy, and I’m working with good people who are kind enough to help me secure the tools I need to do my thing. Well worth the long hours and pulled muscles I think! That being said, I’ll show you some of the things I’ve been working on lately. From headshots to album covers, here are some samples from Studio 385…

It’s moments like these when I wish I could just sit and talk for hours about the path that led me to here.  It’s not that I feel special in any way, it’s just that I’ve allowed myself to take a lot of risks that have led me into a lot of painful experiences.  And no matter how precarious the balance has been between surviving and falling, things seem to work out for the best.  All of life’s unforeseen twists and turns that define us seem so scary and unpredictable as they happen, but when you do get these clear days to look out and see the events for what they accomplished in you, and not as just as sheer randomness, they become so much more beautiful.  It’s moments like these when a man can truly feel wise, not because he is wise, but because he was made wise by the choices that life gave him.  Most of the lessons I’ve learned have hurt so much, but not nearly as much as not learning at all.  I realized a moment ago that I have no cause for regrets.  I have said and done so many things that I would love to change, but I can’t.  I can’t go back and be a better man, or a better friend, or a better lover.  I can only take from what I’ve been given, and be better for it right now.

Thanks for checking out my new blog here at wordpress! I have been in transition with so many things in my life lately that it seemed only natural that my online journal get a fresh start along with everything else. Being a fashion photographer in New York City may not be the most original story, and I may not be the best equipped person to write about it, but I assure you I will be doing my best to keep things interesting! I will be adjusting to the wordpress format as well, so be patient with my formatting at first, it will get better!
